School Season

School starts all over Australia this week. Most are done and dusted with regards to getting school supplies and school uniforms. A few weeks more and some uni students or high schoolers may realize they need gateway computers to help them with their school work. The start of school would obviously create some extra load in public transportation or even main roads. School is open and if you have kids, I hope they are excited and motivated to do well in this new school year. If they’re not, then hopefully it is not too late to get them into the beat.

Kids Costumes

If you happen to be looking for kids costumes around Sydney, then these can be typically found in some departmental or crafts shops. However, in the few times that I have to find one for our kids, I realised it really isn’t easy to find good ones. Yes, there are those fairy or other cartoon character costumes. But if you’re after something else, then it would be quite a challenge. A better options may be to get real clothing or materials and make them to a costume such as western boots for your young cowboy or perhaps a white robe for a cute doctor. But if you’re lucky to find a read-made costume for your little one, then that is fantastic!

No Strings Attached

A few weeks ago, we went to look for a ukelele for a simple family music project. We were surprised as to how popular these products are as there were at least a couple who were also looking for one. Another was looking for a tuner for it. Good that some tuner from the guitar accessories section would work well for this stringed instrument, too. I think its popularity can be attributed to the fact that it is easy even for a complete beginner to be attached to this lovely instrument.

New for Old

There are quite a number of store offers across Australia in the first days of the new year. This typically starts from Boxing Day but eventually drags on. This is good as it also gives a chance to get school supplies in preparation for school opening. Or it may simply be changing old things with new ones to welcome new year. It can be clothes, pillows, memory foam mattress, furniture, and so on. I’m sure the retail group is hoping this could keep things going in this challenging times.

Busy Lines

I am not sure if Sydney shops are as busy as in other place as far as Christmas shopping is concerned. Yes there are Christmas offerings in almost all places. But news is saying that the real busy ones are not the ones in physical shops but in online ones. With today’s economic challenges, the potential benefits and savings will be good to lure many. So be it michael kors watches, toys, jewellery or clothing, one can do a browse without leaving home and find a better deal. So do not be surprised if you can’t find a long beeline to the registers in the last days to Christmas.

Catalogs from department stores are now out offering Christmas gifts in different shapes and sizes. To make things easier (to sell?) they have even categorized them as gifts ‘for him’ (i.e gadgets, gadgets, gadgets) and ‘for her’ (mineral foundation, jewellery, clothing, etc.). Of course as most gifts go to the kids, they enjoy a share of pages after pages of toys. They can then bring these catalogs to their parents to ’shortlist’ what they’ll get on Christmas day. Does it work? Maybe.

Parties - Check!

The next couple of months are typically busy with parties left and right. Christmas and New Year Celebrations are definitely ‘contributors’ to this but obviously, the summer season and Australia Day in January are great reasons to gather with family and friends to party. Whether it is just a simple backyard barbecue or a function with full restaurant equipment just doesn’t really make a huge difference. As long as there is company and some food to share, the party shall go on!

Based on experience, Australia Post has been quite reliable. This appears to be true for most instances particularly letters or documents. For parcels, I’ve had less than perfect experience but in the end, I still got the package. Things are going to be put to test as we head for the Christmas season. With the internet, some would of course go for virtual invitationbox.com christmas cards and the like. Others of course go for the more traditional cards. In the end it is just as exciting to receive greetings from friends and family from either electronic inbox or the regular mailbox.
