Whose Market?

Sometime last year, there were a lot of write-ups about the phenomenon termed as ‘rental crisis’ in Sydney and perhaps, in several parts of Australia. As the months passed by, it appeared that this has caught lesser and lesser attention in media. But now that we are going through the process of finding a new rental, I started asking the question, ‘is it over’. Just last week, we went to inspect a house and found ourselves part of a ‘crowd’ doing an inspection. People looking for some fancy architecture or fixtures such as wrought iron candle sconces may be facing more than a handful of ‘competitors’ in the rental market. For those on a rush, it may be an added challenge to find the right spot at the right time. Landowner’s market? Perhaps.
