The Evolution of TV

by liau on May 12, 2009

The TV is evolving. If you are after a cube-type piece of electronic equipment, you are probably bound to have a tough time spotting your target in several popular electronics shop here in Sydney. What you will probably see are flat screens in incredibly large sizes.

It is also quite likely that your choices are not only influenced by size but a whole lot of different ‘parameters’. Terminologies such as resolution, HDMI, connectors, HD, Full-HD, and so on. It is not surprising to encounter a new terminology each week that you visit your TV shop. There is an article What the Heck Is HDTV which takes a try at explaining all these new stuff in one page. Well, if you’re in a market for one, these kinds of information may prove to be quite useful. It may even save you hours and money if you know exactly what you need or want.

There is no question that television has evolved. From a cube showing black and white pictures a few decades back, it has now transformed to cinemas inside a house. Here in Australia, the promotions for shifting to digital appear to be in full steam. In the next year or so, the gradual phaseout of analog television broadcast will begin and hence, it is quite logical to start planning out the shift now.
