Father’s Day - Australia

by liau on September 8, 2008

The first Sunday of September marks Father’s Day in Australia. In other countries like the US, Philippines and Singapore, it is celebrated in on the third Sunday in June. In our case, since we were originally from a June-celebrating country, then my husband gets to enjoy two Father’s Day every year!

Generally, Father’s Day is celebrated big time in Australia. Though, I have heard somewhere that Mother’s Day celebrations here are still bigger (and more expensive/lavish). But I guess the costs in celebration should come in secondary or even last. The important thing is the opportunity for us all to show how much we appreciate what both of our parents have done for us.
